April 18th, 2016

RED's booth at this year's NAB event showcases the compatibility of the RED camera system with third-party software and accessories. Partners from across the industry are displaying their products and integrations at the RED booth—including Acecore Technologies, DJI, FOOLCOLOR, Frame IO, Freefly, Gates Underwater, Gyro-Stabilized Systems, Intuitive Aerial, Kippertie, Motorized Precision, Nauticam, NextVR, OFFHOLLYWOOD, RT Motion, Shotover, and Wooden Camera.

Released today via a free firmware update, Avid DNxHR and Avid DNxHD recording formats are now available for all DSMC2 cameras. Shooters now have the flexibility to simultaneously capture REDCODE RAW and Avid DNxHR or Avid DNxHD—bringing yet another powerful and intuitive workflow option to professionals shooting on RED.

We are also pleased to announce additional DSMC2 accessory options to help shooters expand their arsenal. Some of the new products included in the announcement are:

  • DSMC2 Side Handle: Ideal for shooters who prefer a compact handheld configuration, RED's newest side handle uses a navigation wheel and customizable settings to place menu functionality at your fingertips.

  • DSMC2 Jetpack-SDI Expander: An I/O expander purposely designed for aerials, gimbals, and other lightweight/remote configurations using SDI connections.

  • DSMC2 V-Lock Battery Module: Module option that integrates with a variety of expander modules to power industry-standard V-Lock batteries while maintaining flexible I/O options.

  • RED PRO Touch 7.0" LCD: Designed for off-camera configurations, this display option offers remote camera control in a high-definition viewing experience.

As of today, users can now test drive RED's proprietary REDCODE RAW file format (R3D) with the new R3D Sample Page. The R3D Sample Page provides footage from numerous camera options and lighting conditions, giving users insights into the flexibility of R3D files when incorporated into a variety of industry-standard post production workflows.
