Florida State University has established itself as a premier film institution focused on providing state-of-the-art tools and maintaining a staff of industry veterans with DGA, ACE, and ASC backgrounds. In 20 years, FSU films have garnered eight Student Oscars, over 2,000 awards, and have screened at festivals worldwide from Sundance to Cannes. And for the past 5 years, FSU has been shooting RED.

With an arsenal of film and HD cameras, FSU future-proofed their program in 2008 by adopting RED cameras for their film program. This pushed them closer to the filmic latitude of 35mm while eclipsing the resolution of their 1080p cameras. Within one year, the FSU-produced short "My Four Inch Precious," shot on RED by Nathan Levine-Heaney, went on to win the prestigious ASC Heritage Award - the first digital-capture film to ever win a prize from the American Society of Cinematographers.

Capitalizing on the RED EPIC stage upgrade program, FSU continues to provide their students with the same tools in Tallahassee that they're using in Hollywood and insure their gear is on the cutting edge of RED technology.

As a result of their immersion in RED cameras and workflow, students leave FSU with an immediate understanding of how to produce, shoot, and edit films with RED - providing them with a valuable knowledge base that they can leverage immediately upon leaving the university. More than 97% of the college's students have found themselves employed in the motion picture and television industry within 12 months of graduation.

RED is proud to work with educational institutions to provide them and their students with the next generation of cinema tools. More about RED's educational program and how to qualify can be found at red.com/education.
