MODULE

Form-fitting module connects to your V-RAPTOR or V-RAPTOR XL camera to unlock 8K Live cinematic streaming. The module attaches securely to the back of your camera via the V-Lock battery mechanism and CFexpress media slot to create a high-speed data connection via fiber optic cable for livestream, remote record, PTP sync and other capabilities.

8K Live Workflow

RED CONNECT STREAMS FULL RESOLUTION, 8K LIVE R3D VIDEO OVER AN IP NETWORK BY SIMPLY CONNECTING THE V-RAPTOR [X] OR V-RAPTOR XL [X] TO A CAMERA CONTROL UNIT (CCU) VIA FIBER. THE REFERENCE CCU DESIGN PROVIDED BY RED UTILIZED OFF-THE-SHELF COMPONENTS TO OUTPUT UP TO 8K 60P VIA QUAD SDI OR 8K 120 VIA SMPTE ST 2110 WITH MINIMAL LATENCY.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  • V-RAPTOR or v-raptor xl with RED Connect License
  • RED Connect Module
  • LC duplex single mode fiber
  • 10GBASE-T or faster network switch (optional, must support 10Gbps connections)
  • Camera Control Unit (CCU) with RED Connect App (included with the purchase of the RED Connect License)

CCU DESIGN

The CCU must handle the bandwidth of the incoming data stream and have GPUs/DPUs/FPGAs that are capable of decompressing and debayering the R3D data with minimal latency. The RED Connect app is a service that runs in the background to accept and finalize the R3D. For more advanced users, RED’s SDK is available to create a custom workflow, both on Windows and Linux. The GPU-based reference CCU was designed and tested to handle 8K 120p continuous operation.
