RED congratulates our friends at Burton on their nomination in TransWorld SNOWboarding's Video of the Year in their 14th Annual Riders Poll. Burton's film 13 was shot on SCARLETs and RED EPICs at locations around the world including Whistler, Alaska, Lake Tahoe, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Heavenly, Sun Valley and Europe. It features a host of well-known snowboarders including Danny Davis, Mikkel Bang, John Jackson, Mark Sollors, Mikey Rencz, Jussi Oksanen, Terje Haakonsen and many others.
In their nomination TransWorld noted:
"Burton went all out with their video 13. Awesome production, awesome riding, when you put those two things together you get an awesome video."
TransWorld's 14th Annual Riders' Poll Awards takes place on February 1st at the Fillmore Theater in Denver, Colorado. The Riders Poll isn't just another media awards show. Nominees are not chosen by TransWorld SNOWboarding but by professional snowboarders giving props to their peers who are doing great work.
In addition to 13, Burton shot the video Shots in the Dark on RED. The video takes a hard look at "The Grind" -- the work that snowboarders and film crews do to get great shots on film. As a behind the scenes look at the work Jeremy Jones did for his part in Real Snow for the X Games, Shots in the Dark isn't a typical snowboarding film in its focus on the art of the shot.
UPDATE: Congratulations are indeed in order: Burton won Video of the Year with TransWorld noting:
"It was a heavy list of nominees this year, with Videograss' Darkside and Absinthe's Resonance on the ballot, but the riders have spoken and it's 13 they want. From Mikkel's stylish opener to Mikey Rencz's pow filled ender, it was good. Real good."
Also rider Mikkel Bang won Men's Video Part of the Year for his opener to 13.
