Every year, RED Studios Hollywood offers 3 weeks of a filmmaking camp for kids age 9 to 15 known as Camp RED. The first two weeks take place at RED Studios Hollywood. Week 3 is an overnight camp in Malibu. We just wrapped up this year's Camps and all were a great success. Here's what happens at Camp RED...

Each week at the studio, RED hosted 85 kids and between 40 and 50 adults. 3ality Technica, General Lift, LLC., Camadeus, JL Fisher, HP, and Adobe all provided equipment to the camp. Industry professionals came in to help teach the kids about different technologies and aspects of digital movie making. The campers learned 3D filmmaking techniques, motion capture with a green screen, and RED camera workflow. They made a music video, shot a cooking show, a game show, and scripted fiction. All of this happens in RED's Hollywood Studios on the same sound stages where movies, television shows and music videos are made.

During week 3 in Malibu, 35 kids participated in summer camp activities like ropes courses, archery, horseback riding, swimming, and sports all while shooting movies on cutting-edge professional equipment. Over 5 days and 5 nights, the campers worked on movies and played hard. At the end of each week, the Camp RED Film Festival hosted family, friends, and industry professionals for a special screening of the campers' projects at RED Studios.
