This Earth Day, RED partnered with Documentary+ and Wildmotion to spotlight a global collection of films rooted in the natural world, shaped by the people working closest to it. Across continents, ecosystems, and communities, these stories reflect a shared relationship between people and the environments they depend on, revealing both the beauty of that connection and what is at stake when it is strained.
From the Bolivian Amazon to Alaska’s Bristol Bay, from coastal waters to inland ecosystems, the Documentary+ Earth Collection moves through places where nature is not distant, but lived. “What shocked me most wasn’t the danger, it was how normalized the commodification of wildlife has become,” says Jaguar Spirit director Emi Kondo. That perspective carries across the films, where storytelling becomes a way to question systems, shift perception, and bring audiences closer to realities often left unseen.
At its core, Documentary+ Earth Collection is held together by connection. Whether through conservation, cultural identity, or community-led action, each film reflects a different way of belonging to the natural world. “This is a story of what is still possible if we transform our relationship with the land,” says Keepers of the Land co-director Deirdre Leowinata. Together, these stories offer a reminder that our relationship with the natural world is not fixed, but still being shaped.
