RED recently teamed up with Vincent Laforet and Freefly Systems to demonstrate the amazing capabilities of the MoVI hand held stabilization rig. Using a RED EPIC with the IR filter removed, a skeleton crew shot a really wonderful demonstration of the movement that the MoVI rig allows and the fantastic visuals that the infrared reveals.
Conceived by RED and Laforet, the shoot used a crew of 6 people and shot for only half a day. In the video, Laforet explains a bit about the feeling of shooting on EPIC with a MoVI:
"There are a lot of tools out there that translate motion onto screen and cinema and they all have their ups and downs. But the MoVI really occupies a unique spot in that it gives a very different look. It feels like you're floating in the air. It feels very freeing. Not only for the viewer but as a director you can translate that vision with a relatively small crew and a relatively short period of time. It's extremely exciting to see what's going to come out of this over the next few years."
