The Daily writes about RED's "supercamera" and how we're changing the industry. The article emphasizes the technological achievements of RED: 5K Mysterium-X sensor, 120 frames per second, 14-megapixel resolution, pixel count of 5,120 by 2,700. If you're into the techy side of RED cameras (and how could you not be?) it's a good look at how the technology can influence movie making.
FXGuide also recently wrote about our technical specs and specifically the push to shoot 48fps. They point out that:
"The RED Digital Cinema Camera Company is one of the companies behind the move to shooting stereo films at 48 fps rather than the traditional 24fps _ in fact it's safe to say RED is the strongest force behind this move."
Both publications draw attention to the big-name directors using RED's technology. From The Daily:
"These advancements are not lost on some of the most tech-evangelistic directors of today. James Cameron, for example, owns 50 Epic cameras. Peter Jackson is now filming The Hobbit with Epic cameras, in stereo and at twice the standard frame rate."
"He's shooting his movie at 48 frames per second, giving you twice as much visual information," said Red's Ted Schilowitz. "He has 30 of these cameras in multiple rigs all running around New Zealand."
Both articles run a video shot for The Daily at RED Studios Hollywood. It's a very cool peek behind the scenes of RED and several of the big movies that have been shot on RED recently. Check it out at either site.
