David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is in theaters today. Shot on RED ONE and RED EPIC, Fincher's film promises to bring a visceral edge to Steig Larsson's best-selling novel about Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. The movie has already been honored with Golden Globes nominations. Both the soundtrack from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (who also worked with Fincher on The Social Network) and Rooney Mara were announced as nominees last week.
Fincher is perhaps best known as the director of the Academy Award-winning The Social Network but Dragon Tattoo most resembles his dark thrillers like Fight Club, The Game and Se7en.
On REDUSER.net, Jim praised Fincher:
"David is one of the smartest and most respected directors in the business. I really love David because he pushes us to deliver things we would not have otherwise considered."
"Brilliant only applies to a select few. David is one of them."
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's cinematic impact will certainly be felt because, as Jim also notes:
"GWDT will be released in 4K. This is the beginning of everything we have talked about for 5 years."
